"Becoming Navajo"
My first commercial oil painting for the Navajo Fair. I collected 70-80 images to make one piece of art. It was during the 1989 Navajo Nation riots, I walked the president's office to have one the political faction erupt front the barricades to invetsigate what I was doing walking around the NN office complexes.

In the end we became friends and I actually took pictures of them, the black hat belonged to one of the people in the group.

The painting has stood the test of time in terms of concept and storytelling.
